Hearing Healthcare offers complete audiological evaluations provided by competent Doctors of Audiology who are able to fully analyze the results and make the best recommendation for you based on your hearing loss. We will be able to distinguish the type of hearing loss you have as well as the severity of the hearing loss and will recommend the most appropriate treatment based on these findings. We use otoscopy, air and bone conduction thresholds, word recognition scores, tympanometry results, acoustic reflex results and even otoacoustic emissions to determine the most appropriate treatment for you.
If hearing aids have been recommended for you based on your hearing evaluation results, you will have the opportunity to meet with one of our Doctors of Audiology to determine the most appropriate style of hearing aid for you as well as the most appropriate level of technology. Hearing Healthcare is not affiliated with any particular hearing aid company, and can therefore offer you the most appropriate hearing aid/s based on your individual needs without being limited to a certain brand. Every patient’s needs are slightly different based on their lifestyle, their everyday listening situation, and their expectation for their hearing aids. We will take all of these factors into account before recommending hearing aids for you.
If you decide to purchase hearing aids after your hearing aid consultation, we will follow-up with you throughout this process and continue to offer you services even after you are fit with the aids. We offer periodic hearing aid checks and cleanings to ensure that your hearing aids are still performing optimally. We also continue to make programming adjustments to your aids if you find that they need a little “tweaking.”
If you did not purchase your hearing aids through Hearing Healthcare but would like to be seen here for programming adjustments, cleanings, or checks, we offer services to you as well. We are equipped with software for all major hearing aid companies and are able to work with hearing aids that have not been purchased through us.
At Hearing Healthcare, we strive to view our patients not just as our patients, but as people who are taking the first step in attempting to participate more easily with the world around them. Therefore, we believe that our services should continue long past the purchase of the hearing aids. We will continue to work with you to ensure that you are receiving the greatest benefit from your purchase as possible.
Hearing Healthcare Associates offers a wide range of custom-made hearing protection devices such as musician’s earplugs, hearing protection for those working in noisy environments, and even custom-made ipod/mp3 earbuds.
Musician’s Earplugs – These plugs are designed with the musician in mind and attenuate sound at the same level for all frequencies so that sound quality is not diminished. These earplugs can be purchased with 9, 15, or 25 dB filters depending on the patient’s preference and the type of music they are exposed to.
General Hearing Protection – Whether you are a hunter, a construction worker, or someone who is exposed to loud machinery, we are able to determine the most appropriate type of hearing protection for you in order to preserve your hearing. Many styles and materials are available, and the audiologist would go over these options with you at your consulation.
Swimmolds – Swimmolds are very important for those who have had Pressure Equalization tubes placed in their ears. In order to protect your middle ear from water getting inside these tubes, many people opt to have custom-made swimmolds made to keep the water out of their ears while swimming. Even if you don’t have PE tubes, it’s always a good idea to keep your ears dry to avoid fungal or bacterial infections. We offer swimmolds that will do just that. Our swimmolds come in a variety of fun colors to match your personality!
Ipod/mp3 earbuds – Many people have problems with keeping their standard ipod earbuds in their ears. This isn’t a problem when you have custom-made earbuds that take the shape of your ear. Also, because these earbuds fit more securely, you don’t need to turn up the volume on your ipod to block out environmental sounds.
Hearing Healthcare Associates is fully equipped with a range of accessories to help you care for your ears and your hearing aids such as:
Dry & Store: A special hearing aid case that works to extract harmful moisture from your hearing aids. These are particularly helpful for patients in the summer and for patients who are very active who perspire frequently.
Cleaning Tools: We have extra brushes, wire loops, and wax guards galore if you happen to need more.
These devices can be helpful for those that have already purchased hearing aids and would like some extra help in certain situations or for those who are looking for a way to communicate more easily with a loved one. Whatever your difficult listening situation, we will work with you to determine the best solution to help you be a part of the world around you.
TV Ears: These headphones connect wirelessly to your tv so that you can listen at your desired volume without disturbing those around you who may prefer a softer volume. They also reduce the problem of background noise as the signal is delivered directly to your ears from the television.
Pocket Talker: These helpful devices allow you to communicate with someone who has a hearing loss but may not have hearing aids yet. It is very common for someone to have a severe hearing loss but still avoid purchasing hearing aids either due to the cost or simply because he/she isn’t ready for them. These devices are amplifiers which are held by the talker and have earphones which are worn by the listener. By speaking into the microphone, the talker’s voice is amplified and then transmitted to the hearing impaired listener. They are helpful for short-term situations such as doctor’s visits, meals, or important conversations.
